About StartFusion Design
![]() Some of Johnathan's earliest memories include coloring books, markers and comics. Spider-Man, G.I. Joes, Transformers, He-Man, and original ideas would fill countless pages in sketchbooks and homework margins. Throughout his school years dozens of teachers would schedule parent-teacher conferences to discuss his preoccupation with drawing, but the doodles and pin-ups never stopped. High school brought the realization that people can actually be paid for being artistic, which laid the groundwork for a career in commercial art. Much credit goes to long-time friend Stacy Robinson for years of friendly artistic competition & Mrs. Patti Davis for being the world's best Art teacher. College brought new perspectives and technologies to Johnathan's arsenal, which were constantly explored and honed. With an AA in Graphic Design, the next challenge would be The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, thousands of miles away in Dover, New Jersey. Completing two of the three-year cirriculum, Johnathan headed back to Washington to start work as a Screen Printer and Junior Graphic Designer. 2002 brought a much needed 6-week holiday to Australia to visit his future wife and in-laws, all while falling in love her spectacular country. On Thanksgiving 2003, Johnathan was hired by local ISP Tiger Mtn. as their in-house Graphic Designer and Web Developer for his redesign of their web site. Self-taught in XHTML , CSS, and Photoshop, Johnathan's design skills would helm a myriad of projects for Tiger Mtn. and clients scattered across North America. Over the next 3½ years Johnathan's responsibilities included:
StartFusion Design was founded in 2006 by Johnathan Kiser to cultivate his creativity as a freelancer. This independence brought about wonderful new clients and projects to encourage fresh ideas & techniques. However, his relationship with then-employer Tiger Mtn. precluded that StartFusion would be an on-again off-again endeavor. Early 2007 brought about Johnathan's parting of ways with Tiger Mtn. as their sole Graphic Designer. Shortly thereafter, StartFusion was dusted off for active duty. As of this writing, StartFusion and I have enjoyed steady success and several great learning experiences. So, a huge "Thank You" to my kick ass clients! |
